Corporate Social Policy

Maheen Textile Mills (Pvt) Ltd, its suppliers and (if) subcontractors will comply with all relevant local / national legal requirements, buyer’s expectations, SA8000 requirements and International labor Standards to practice and demonstrate as a socially responsible organization. Maheen Textile Mills (Pvt) Ltd is committed to develop Social Accountability Management System for the betterment of its personnel in particular and society at large.

Maheen Textile Mills (Pvt) Ltd will provide a safe and healthy work environment and will strive to improve working conditions of its facility and environment. Maheen Textile Mills (Pvt) Ltd will comply with environmental rules, regulations and standards applicable to their operations, and will observe environmentally conscious practices in all locations where they operate.

Maheen Textile Mills (Pvt) Ltd will not hire any personnel under the definition of child, or under the age interfering with compulsory schooling, or under the minimum age established by law, whichever is greater.

Maheen Textile Mills (Pvt) Ltd does not engage in forced, compulsory labor, human trafficking and will not allow involuntary or forced and compulsory labor, indentured, bonded or otherwise.

Maheen Textile Mills (Pvt) Ltd will comply with legal requirements aiming overall social benefit of the personnel. Maheen Textile Mills (Pvt) Ltd will pay at least the minimum total compensation required by local law, including all mandated wages, allowances and benefits. It will further assure that Work Hours each day, and days worked each week, shall not exceed the legal limitations of the country. Maheen Textile Mills (Pvt) Ltd will provide at least one day off following six (6) consecutive days of work, except as required to meet urgent business needs.

Maheen Textile Mills (Pvt) Ltd will treat all personnel with dignity and respect and will not engage in or tolerate the use of corporal punishment, mental or physical coercion, or verbal abuse of personnel. No harsh or inhumane treatment is allowed. Maheen Textile Mills (Pvt) Ltd does not believe in discriminatory practices in personnel matters. Maheen Textile Mills (Pvt) Ltd will employ, pay, promote, and terminate personnel on the basis of their ability to do the job, rather than on the basis of personal characteristics or beliefs. Maheen Textile Mills (Pvt) Ltd prohibits and controls physical, verbal and non-verbal Harassment or Abuses and punishments in its working places. Maheen Textile Mills (Pvt) Ltd will provide a work environment free of harassment, abuse or in any form.

Social objectives

Reduce the injuries from 10 number during the OCTOBER-2018 to APRIL-2019.
To develop and implement a formal orientation program expanding the health and safety component.
To provide, as far as reasonably practicable, a safe and healthy working environment, safe premises and facilities for staff, employees and visitors and contactors if any;
To comply with statutory requirements and strive to exceed these where appropriate.
Emergency equipment needs should be identified, and equipment should be provided in adequate quantity.

Emergency response plan and Fire Evacuation drill will be conducted biannually.
Planning: Compliance/ Health & Safety department will provide the training to will conduct Fire evacuation drills accordingly.

To save environment from getting polluted.
Planning: Good fuel will be used in generators as well as environmental reports will be taken by competent authority biannually.

Minimum wages will be increase as per government guzzat notification.
Planning: Manager Compliance/ MR will ensure the minimum wage for all employees with the mutual discussion with Top Management Joint work council Representative will also participate in this.

Fire safety trainings will be given to all employees on monthly basis.
Planning: Compliance/ Health & Safety department will provide the training to all staff/ workers. Management Representative must see that the legal, ethical, and social environmental issues are properly attended to. Equal opportunity and equal pay for equal work are the legal issues not to be violated. To take care of farmers (whose land has been acquired for the factory) and tribal’s (who are displaced by industries and mining companies) are the ethical issues

Social Performance

Company has also installed fire hydrant line with the 35 pound pressure/ mint with automatic systemize turbine 24hrs standby. On the other hand fire hydrant line is also attached with over head tank having a capacity of 30,000 gallon.
Company has increase the minimum wages as per government act of their employees from 14,000 to 15,000 thousand per month for unskilled workers and including basic need wages minimum salary made 19,336 Rs per month
Company has installed automatic centralize smoke detector system.
Company has emergency response team to over come any incident/ emergency.
Company has training plan for their workers in-house as well as external like SGS of Pakistan, Rescue 1122.

Child Labor / Forced Labor:
Maheen Textile Mills (Pvt.) Ltd is committed not to engage child labor or full time employment for young workers, anywhere during the whole production cycle. No cases of child/young worker were found in last six months. The management is fully committed not to use child labor. The age screening procedure is effectively implemented to avoid any possibility of child labor in the factory.

Health & Safety:

Health and safety conditions are well maintained within the factory, with continuous improvement mechanism to keep Health & Safety system updated in order to avoid any incident. Incident/ Accident records are properly maintained to keep track of all the injuries and minor/ major incidence within the organization as a part of continuous improvement process. All necessary trainings are provided to the staff regularly to avoid any incident/ accident additional we have arrange fire hydrant pipe line in our premises link with automatic turbine system having 35 pound pressure also having 30,000 gallon water storage capacity tank.

Right of collective bargaining:
Mutual Consensus Committee is effectively playing its part for the welfare of the employees of Maheen Textile Mills (Pvt.) Ltd. Mutual Consensus Committee is continuously meeting with the management to communicate or to discuss the issues related to Joint Work Council Committee of workers. Joint work council committee meet every one month. Elections was held in February-2018 for two years

Discrimination & Disciplinary Practices:
We are not gathering any data that can lead to any discrimination. Top management is very strict on discrimination issues and monitors such issues personally. There is an open door policy by the top management so that, staff can report any such incident. No cases of discrimination were found raised from the workers during last six months.
5- Working Hours:
8 hour work routine with one hour lunch break was observed during last six months. No overtime was performed by the workers since last six month except security staff. Sunday is observed as weekly holiday during the last six months.

Company is following the Punjab Government Gazette regarding the pays and no worker is getting less than Rs.15, 000/- per month for unskilled workers. No piece rate or contractual labor is used by Maheen Textile Mills (Pvt.) Ltd. In addition to that company is paying for workers

Wages are paid according to the qualification, skill, experience of an employee and it should also comply the wages law.

Control over Vender:
All the production activities within the company and all the sub-contractors are working in compliance with the social accountability 8000, Quality Management system, BRC and Product safety requirements by the Customers. The Purchase Manager and Manager Compliances conduct meetings with the sub-contractors and make them aware of the legal and standard requirements and find out the possible options to comply these requirements. All the suppliers outside factory have been informed through letter about the policy of company regarding SA 8000:2014. Mr. Akhtar Ali (Manger Compliance/HSE) is conducting Supplier Evaluation (out side the factory) to verify the compliance of local labor laws and SA 8000:2014 standard. This process is likely to be completed within one month. In next meeting MR will present the data regarding implementation status of labor practices at supplier’s premises.
